DWF is a leading legal services business with 4,800 staff based in 31 offices around the World, we have recently been purchased by Inflexion which is investing heavily in our growth. We already have a full service competition law team which advises on antitrust, dominance, merger control, and many other matters, but see growth in new areas of law such as foreign investment screening and foreign subsidies regulation. One element which makes our practice stand out is Subsidy Control where DWF is the market leader. This includes working on a significant number of the referrals made to the CMA to date and successfully representing Durham County Council in the UK's first case under the Subsidy Control Act 2022. Another area in which DWF stands out is thought leadership. Members of our competition law practice have been quoted by the BBC, have written articles for Concurrences, acted as expert witnesses in the design of competition law legislation and delivered training for the Law Society. We will involve you in high quality work and support you in thought leadership activities. You will be part of a wider Commercial and Competition Law team with colleagues in other jurisdictions such as France and Poland, as well as multiple offices in the UK. From day 1 you will be an integral part of our competition law practice, supported to develop your understanding of the law and advising clients. The role therefore will appeal to somebody who has some experience of advising upon competition law matters, but wants greater responsibility and support to develop into a leading lawyer. We're ambitious and take responsibility for delivering high quality work and we're looking for the same from you. Above all, we’re enthusiastic about the next phase of our growth which involves advising on the full range of competition law matters. You'll have support from the team, which is led by Jonathan Branton, ranked by Legal 500 as a top tier expert adviser, who advises on the full range of competition law matters in addition to other related areas such as international trade and public procurement. Other Partners in our competition law team include Dimitris Sinaniotis, who previously worked for the CMA, and Alexander Rose, who previously worked at DG Competition in the European Commission. We're looking for an Associate / Senior Associate who is excited by the idea of taking on greater responsibility and being supported to develop into a leading lawyer in competition law matters. You will need to have some experience of working on competition law matters, either in a law firm or in-house (which might include a regulator such as the CMA). We recognise that you may not have experience in certain areas, but clearly your application will be stronger if you can demonstrate experience of working on matters such as merger control, restrictive agreements and subsidy control. This will be a mobile position potentially based out of any of DWF's UK offices (including Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne). At DWF, we deeply appreciate the significance of offering a comprehensive rewards package that extends beyond a basic salary. Our commitment is to ensure that each member of our team not only feels valued but is also duly rewarded throughout their tenure with us. Upon joining our organisation, you will have the opportunity to select from a diverse array of benefits, allowing you to carefully tailor a package that perfectly aligns with your individual needs and those of your family. In addition to our standard benefits, we offer a wide range of flexible benefits and robust well-being programs. Our recruitment process upholds the highest standards of fairness and engagement.
