Operational Contracts Team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
The primary purpose of this role is to oversee the Water Services Partnership contracts, managing an annual budget of approximately £67 million. The goal is to ensure exceptional safety and operational performance while optimizing financial efficiency in third-party expenditures. This involves strong management of both internal and external stakeholders, including highways and local authorities. Key responsibilities include triage, planning, and prioritizing essential workstreams to minimize waste for Yorkshire Water technicians and WSP partners.
Additionally, the role entails managing and delivering an annual program of business plan initiatives aimed at achieving cost savings and performance improvements tied to ODI benefits. It also involves developing future contract strategies and ensuring that any future tenders or amendments to existing frameworks align with Yorkshire Water's needs. Leading the Operational Contracts Team and crafting its strategic plan in accordance with Yorkshire Water's 10-year strategy are also crucial aspects of this position.
Where you fit in:
As our Commercial & Contract Strategy Manager you will have:
* An in-depth knowledge and understanding of water operations and the water industry.
* Experience of managing and leading teams and a proven track record in implementing change and process improvement.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
* Commercial understanding and experience of managing Contract performance within an Operational environment.
* Recognizable skillset that is preferred within the water industry, its regulators bodies and/or experience within the utility sector.
* Excellent operational and people leader, balanced with the analytical and creative abilities necessary for innovation.
* Ability to create effective alliances through excellent relationship management skills to engage the wider business in the delivery of performance commitments.

What skills & qualifications you will need:
* Experience of managing large value contracts ideally within the Water Industry.
* Change management experience – people and organisational design.
* Previous experience of setting the strategy and direction of a function.
* Financial accountability of budgets.
* People management – managing the performance and safety aspects of a team.
* Full UK driving licence.
You will also benefit from having:
* Previous experience in commercially orientated and/or regulated environment.
* Previous experience gained within the water or waste water sectors or within broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
