University of Exeter - PGDip Psychological Therapies Practice
We have anexciting opportunity to undertake training to become a Cognitive BehaviouralTherapist within Herefordshire NHS Talking Therapies.
The role issuitable for applicants qualified in a core profession or who meet theKnowledge, Skills and Attitudes (KSA) outlined by the BABCP. Completed KSAPortfolios must be submitted to the University at interview.
Successfulcandidates will be expected to complete the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy HighIntensity Postgraduate Diploma with University of Exeter. The training commences6th January 2025 consisting of 2 days University study and 3 dayssupervised practice in service.
Onsuccessful completion of the diploma you will be eligible to become accreditedwith the BABCP and will be offered a permanent Band 7 High Intensity Therapistpost in the Service.

Main duties of the job
A typical week will involve workingautonomously and as part of a team. Working within a hybrid model you willtake a blended approach to home, office-based working and attendance atUniversity. Under supervision you willwork collaboratively with patients in your care to assess and providepsychological interventions and support individuals to work towards recovery.You will maintain clear and accurate clinical records and will be supportedto embed learning and reflect on practice via regular supervision. You willbe recording clinical sessions for academic purposes. You will be offered regular opportunity forpeer support. You will share an effective interface both with your team andwith relevant allied agencies within the care pathway. Alongside managing a small caseload, youwill also be undertaking academic assignments. Preparation and organisationwill form a key part of your weekly structure.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Must be qualified and registered in the appropriate core profession as determined by the training body, Nursing (RMN or Learning Disability), Social work, Occupational Therapy, Arts Therapy, Teacher of Special Education/Needs with additional counselling/ psychotherapy training, Psychotherapy/ Psychotherapeutic Counselling with UKCP Registration, Counselling with BACP Accreditation, Probation Services (DipPS), Psychiatrist or General Practitioner Or (for CBT trainees only) Evidence of meeting knowledge, skills and attitude (KSA) requirements of BABCP
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer
Skills & Abilities
* Computer literate and able to articulate clear and concise clinical notes.
* Ability to construct clear reports and letters to referrers.
* Ability to meet agreed/ specified service targets.
* Ability to convert theory to practice.

* Able to commit to 100% attendance of the appropriate training course.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Evidence of values that are consistent with the NHS constitution.

Knowledge
* Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in primary care.
* Demonstrates knowledge of the issues surrounding work/family and other external factors and the impact it can have on mental health.
* Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
* Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems.
Experience
* Demonstrable experience of working within mental health services
* Experience of conducting accurate and detailed clinical assessments and management of risk
* Demonstrable experience of working in a service with patients who have mild/moderate mental health problems.
* Worked within a service whereby agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes.
* Experience of working within a stepped care service for anxiety and depression.
* Experience of working with diverse communities within a multi-cultural setting.
* Evidence of foundation level or sustained CPD in CBT
* Evidence of using CBT techniques in practice
