Production Operator
Our client based in Middlesbrough is looking for a full-time Production Operator.
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday on a shift system that will rotate on 6-2pm, 2-10pm, and nights. Must also be willing to work overtime.
Job Description:
1. Using a forklift truck with a bucket to fill a blender with “clay”, wet it, and store it.
2. Operate an auto 25kg bagging machine, check weighing, wrapping, and recording data.
3. Loading wagons.
4. Learning how to operate the milling plant as this will become the main role.
5. Always cleaning and moving piles of clay.
6. Labelling and storing of bags and pallets.
7. Become a member of a shift team (just 2/shift).
Operational Responsibilities:
1. Take all possible measures to meet or exceed production targets.
2. Participate in works team discussions on production, quality, feed safety, environment, engineering, and Health and Safety issues.
3. Identify efficiencies and savings within the operation and communicate these to the Supervisor.
4. Report breaches in Safety systems to the Supervisor as necessary.
5. Ensure that the shift operates within the Work's rules and procedures as defined by management.
6. Organise the workload of self and operators during unplanned interruptions to production.
7. Liaise and work with external organisations as required.
8. Attend and participate in site meetings.
9. Accurately report information for production sheets at the end of each shift.
10. Undertake training as required to improve understanding of job function or operation.
11. Communicate inter-shift information for efficient changeover.
Health & Safety:
1. Take all reasonable measures to ensure safe working practices.
2. Apply all Health & Safety rules and procedures as defined by management.
3. Bring any health and safety concerns to the attention of the Supervisor.
4. Undertake Health & Safety training as required.
Maintenance & Engineering:
1. Work with the Production Engineer to ensure maintenance occurs with minimal disruption.
2. Assess situations during out-of-hours breakdowns to maximise production and efficiency.
3. Receive and relay information regarding site maintenance to the Supervisor.
Quality and Feed Safety:
1. Liaise with the Quality Department to confirm product specifications.
2. Correct quality issues as informed by the Quality Department.
3. Ensure finished products meet customer requirements.
4. Communicate all relevant quality issues to the Supervisor.
Environment:
1. Report and take action to prevent emissions from the site.
2. Maintain housekeeping standards at all times.
3. Ensure vehicles leave the site clean and unlikely to carry loose fly dust outside the works' boundaries.
Success Judgement Criteria:
1. All production targets are met and/or exceeded.
2. Performance issues are dealt with constructively and timely.
3. Time is optimised.
4. All issues related to the site and production are communicated to the Supervisor.
5. All production staff contribute to the identification of efficiencies and savings.
6. Shifts operate within works rules and procedures.
7. All requested health & safety measures are implemented.
8. The effect of breakdowns on production targets is minimised.
9. All production leaving the site is within specification and meets customer requirements.
10. The environmental impact of the site is reduced.
11. Housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
