We are searching for a Band 6 Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse to join us on Beech Ward based in Torquay, Torbay Hospital. Beech ward is a 16 bedded inpatient Mental Health Ward that supports primarily older adults with functional mental health difficulties.
We warmly welcome Band 5 Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurses who are passionate about developing into a leadership role. The successful candidate will be supported by a team of experienced Band 6's and Ward Manager.

Working alongside the ward manager, and within the MDT, you will ensure that service users receive a high standard of person-centred care which enables them to recover in a timely way.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will, in collaboration with the Ward Manager, ensure continuous clinical and professional development for ward staff through on the job coaching, mentoring, audit, regular supervision, and ward based training of less experienced staff.
The post holder will deputise for the ward manager as required and promote multi-disciplinary team working whilst leading predominantly on nursing issues and leadership.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience as a Band 5 in an acute inpatient setting.
* Experience working within MDT.
* Clinical supervision and mentoring experience.
* Experience of managing staff.
* Mentoring staff in line with professional requirements.
* Experience of working with older adults.
* Experience managing physical healthcare co-morbidities.
Qualifications
* Evidence of PREP
* Leadership training
Knowledge
* An understanding of NSF Mental Health Act/ MH Capacity Act.
* Understanding of recovery principles in Mental Health.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Basic computer skills.
* Able to provide and receive complex sensitive information in relation to staff, service users, families and carers.
* Able to problem solve and assist others in this process.
* Ability to assess and manage risk effectively.
* Lead and supervise staff to provide a high quality, effective service.
* Good liaison skills and ability to manage difficult and complex situations.
* Effectively able to manage own time and that of the team.
* Ability to work flexibly.
* Able to undertake nursing procedures e.g. manual handling, physical restraint.
