A bit about me:
My name is a R, I am a 19-year-old young man. I live at home with my parents and siblings. I enjoy a variety of activities including playing board games, art and craft activities, listening to music, swimming and having stories read to me. I have a real love of wildlife and animals.
About the role:
I have Autism, ADHD, OCD and Tourette’s Syndrome which means that I find daily activities challenging and I can become easily anxious in social situations. I would like a PA to escort and support me out in the local community helping me to engage in different activities. This would include taking me out to places that would interest me which would, in turn, help me to practise my social skills although initially, I may like to stay in the home or close by until you get to know me and I get to know you. In addition, I would like someone who would help me to learn the skills needed to make simple meals, I can boil a kettle and make a cup of tea but would really like to be able to do a little more. Food is a passion so help with my eating choices will also be essential. I would like someone who understands that I need a routine otherwise I will struggle to cope. Ideally, I would like your role to involve an activity each day, which would be repeated each week as I struggle to understand time and repetition helps me.
The kind of person I am looking for:
Friendly and approachable but also someone who can set me firm boundaries. Responsible, reliable, trustworthy and a good sense of humour. Good communication and social skills. To respect confidentiality and be willing to learn and able to work on your own initiative. Experience caring for other autistic people would be an advantage.
