Job Overview
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Retail Development Manager who is a highly motivated and strategic individual with proven team leadership skills, demonstrable commercial acumen, and a strong background in retail/charity management with some e-commerce knowledge.
As the Retail Development Manager, you will manage all retail activities for 5 shops and have input into the e-commerce platform, i.e., E-Bay. You will be joining a small but highly committed team at the head office, reporting directly to the General Manager. The charity has a flat organisational structure, and everyone's ideas and thoughts are valued. You will have a fantastic opportunity to impact the retail business and the charity's strategy.
The main aim of the role is to help generate the maximum return to the charity through retail activities while enhancing the brand. You will be joining a supportive team that cares about all aspects of their employees' lives, not just what you can do for them.
Duties
Your duties as a Retail Development Manager will include:
* Management of existing retail outlets and new acquisitions
* Performance management and development of shop managers including regular reviews
* Recruitment of new staff and volunteers
* Training and coaching staff and volunteers in all aspects of retail activity as appropriate to their role
* Carry out regular shop visits to motivate, direct, and empower the teams
* Input into the company’s e-commerce site, i.e., E-Bay, along with the e-commerce team
* Promote the donation of good quality goods within the communities
* Seek and develop corporate links to acquire goods for sale, end of line, etc.
* Work with the General Manager to decide the strategic direction of retailing
* Regularly report on trading activities to the General Manager and Trustees as required
* Analyse sales figures and turnover and take action in response to these on a weekly and monthly basis
* Management of Health and Safety in the shops and warehouse including risk assessments and remedial action
* Proactively seek out opportunities to expand the retail network profitably
* Liaise with external organisations as appropriate or required
* Always promote the company’s work and its brand
* Actively participate in the ongoing Christian work of the charity and be fully committed to its Christian aims and objectives
Candidate Requirements
* A solid background in retail/charity management
* Some knowledge of e-commerce
* Proven previous commercial skills
* Passionate about shaping the charity and going the extra mile
* Strategic and capable of motivating teams and making things happen
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent customer service skills
