An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to join our multi-disciplinary Respiratory Care Team across North West Surrey.
This is a fixed term opportunity with potential to extend. To succeed in this post you will need experience of managing patients with chronic respiratory disease at a Band 7 or Band 6 level in a health setting. You will have experience of working autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate must have good communication and organisational skills with a flexible approach to meet the ever-changing needs of the service.
This role is integral to the multi-disciplinary team and supports: unplanned admission avoidance where appropriate; post discharge support; community clinics; home visits and is involved in Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Ambulatory Oxygen prescription, a home Non-Invasive ventilation service, research and other innovative schemes.
The team strives to ensure evidence-based practice and to provide an effective high-quality service by setting standards and ensuring they are monitored and maintained.

Main duties of the job
The role of the Respiratory Physiotherapist is to undertake a significant specialist clinical case load, taking a leading role in the advanced assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients with long-term conditions. These patients may have complex presentations.
To take a lead role in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the Respiratory Care Team on a day to day basis.

Principal duties to include:
* To communicate effectively with all disciplines involved in a patient’s care both those within the organisation and those outside to ensure effective multidisciplinary working.
* To advise other disciplines both internally and externally to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to care.
* To be able to communicate complex and sensitive information to patients, carers and other staff including imparting unwelcome news relating to their rehabilitation/recovery potential.
* To use persuading and influencing skills to encourage patients to self-manage their conditions.
* To ensure timely and effective communication with the line manager on all professional matters.
* To attend relevant meetings and case conferences as appropriate in order to ensure appropriate management and effective and timely discharge of patients and coordination of care and care planning.
* To appreciate cultural differences and take these into account when agreeing treatment plans with patients.
* To assess patients understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid consent and have the capacity to work within the legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent.
* To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients in order to progress rehabilitation/recovery and treatment programmes.

£48,270 to £54,931 a year inclusive of 5% High Cost Area allowance per annum pro rata.
