WHAT WE DO The FX Payments Engineering team plays a central role in enabling foreign currency payments on the firm’s new Transaction Banking (TxB) offering. The team is creating a brand new Cloud based microservice architecture, which leverages the firm’s FX edealing capabilities for liquidity, whilst also orchestrating numerous other FX payment lifecycle stages. The Commercial Banking business unit aims to provide comprehensive cash management solutions for corporations, of which a Global Payment capability is a key part of the offering. We are actively building out FX features, where the technical roadmap will continue to be driven by client requirements and further industrialization of the offering. The software the team is creating has an immediate and direct impact on the success of the Global Payments business. We foster an open, inclusive and supportive atmosphere within the team, where ideas and discussion are encouraged As part of the FX development team you will be responsible for the specification, development, testing, delivery and support of our new FX Payment orchestration platform. You would become familiar and contribute to the evolution of all aspects of the FX payment software offering, including the roles and general function of all FX microservices, build and deployment infrastructure, integrations with the broader TxB platform, and control considerations. Our mission is to build a robust FX capability for the growing payment platform that meets our corporate client's needs. Our goal is to build a highly scalable, resilient and available cloud-based FX payment capability that our corporate clients can rely on to run and expand their businesses. THE ROLE As a Senior Developer in the FX Payments Engineering team you will be expected to drive the design of critical FX payment services as well as oversee the implementation of new features, focusing on code quality, automation and testability. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the vision, understand our product roadmap and contribute to building an engineering culture within our global team. You will be responsible for mentoring and developing more junior technical talents. Our flat structure requires and enables team members to evolve through the entire spectrum of the software life-cycle and closely collaborate with product owners, business and operations users. Strong communication skills are key, we expect you to constructively volunteer reasoned views and opinions in different team forums, both technically but also on how we’re performing as an Agile team. Where differing views arise we’d expect you to help bring about consensus. You would create close relationships with other teams in the Securities and Transaction Banking areas of the firm. You must have a proficient understanding of software development concepts and be hands on with implementation of new features. A good understanding of Cloud and Container concepts would be ideal. You will also be responsible for developing easy to support software and liaise with the SRE team to factor in their requirements. Basic Qualifications Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience using a modern programming language (preferably Java) Prior experience working on high availability, mission critical systems Proven ability to deliver complex products with multiple stakeholders BSc or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience) Comfort with Agile operating models (practical experience of Scrum / Kanban) Team oriented, strong interpersonal and communication skills Energetic, self-directed, and self-motivated Preferred Skills Fluency with SpringBoot, Hibernate, RESTful services Experience with microservice architectures (SOA) Experience building enterprise applications on cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS) Experience applying infrastructure-as-code techniques (i.e. using Docker, Terraform) Familiarity with Git, awareness of CI/CD principles & automation pipelines Familiarity with security principles and associated implementation, e.g. TLS, certificates Experience with FX or Payments systems Experience in Financial Services or Fintech Experience with workflow systems.
