Part-time teacher in Practical Artificial Intelligence
Practical Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Age (to be taught during the academic year 2024–25), to comprise 10 weekly meetings, starting Thursday 20 March 2025, running from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
This module is part of the Part-time courses for adults programme at Lifelong Learning. Further details can be found at Cardiff University.
It is a 10-credit module at Level 4 on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales, comprising 20 teaching contact hours and 20 preparation/administration/marking hours.
This post is offered, subject to probation, on an hourly-paid, fixed-term for 12 months, subject to demand.
Salary: £40,247 - £45,163 per annum, pro-rata for hours worked (Grade 6).

Job Description
Main Function of Post
You will design, prepare, and deliver a 10 credit module in Practical AI Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Age.
Responsibilities:
1. To deliver the teaching of courses, which includes preparing teaching material, communicating subject matter, encouraging critical discourse, observing student interventions, and responding to questions outside class.
2. To carry out assessment for courses, including designing assessment instruments, marking assessments, providing feedback, and collating final assessments.
3. To carry out course evaluation, facilitating student feedback, reflecting on teaching design, and implementing improvement ideas.
4. To act as Personal Tutor for students and refer them to appropriate authorities for guidance.
5. To design teaching programmes for courses, including identifying learning objectives and selecting curricula.
6. To carry out teaching-related administrative duties as allocated by the Head of Department.
7. To contribute to the organization of the department independently or with others as required.
8. To work closely with the Co-ordinating Lecturer and Pathways Co-ordinator.
9. To undertake any other duties consistent with this grade as assigned by the Co-ordinating Lecturer.
10. To ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding equality and diversity, data protection, and other University policies.
11. To take reasonable care for health and safety in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Person Specification

Essential Criteria:
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Experience and knowledge of Artificial Intelligence.
3. Ability to present complex information professionally.
4. Evidence of excellent teaching skills.
5. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage workload.
6. Ability to work collaboratively.
7. Evidence of competence in standard office IT.
8. A first degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject.
9. Previous teaching experience relevant to this subject area.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Experience of teaching in various settings.
2. A teaching qualification in adult or post-compulsory education.
3. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject.
