Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Outpatient Clinic Nurse to join the Manchester Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre's multidisciplinary team.
The Manchester Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre has over 480 patients with numbers increasing year on year, with the catchment area covering the Northwest Region.
The Outpatient Department within the Centre is unique in that although we are classed as an outpatient department, we are more aligned to being a Regional Treatment centre which offers individualised, holistic patient centred care tailored to patient’s needs.
We are looking for a self-motivated, dynamic individual to join a well-established, dedicated, and supportive CF nursing team. You will need to be flexible, a team player, and be able to demonstrate a commitment to professional development and evidence-based practice.
The Successful Candidate Will Work 37.5 Hours Over a 5-day Period As Part Of a Large MDT With The Aim Of:
* Delivering high quality holistic, individualised care to patients attending the CF outpatient’s department.
* Managing and coordinating staff and clinical activity within the outpatient department, playing a key role within the multidisciplinary team.
* Taking the lead role for quality improvement within the outpatient department.
Main duties of the job
* Coordinate outpatient clinic activity and patient flow through the department whilst managing a clinic team.
* Ensure daily safety checks and clinic set up are completed.
* Overseeing management and planning of clinics.
* Undertake nursing interventions in the Outpatient’s Clinic.
* Working from Patient Group Directives.
* Demonstrate knowledge and experience of cystic fibrosis and clinical leadership skills.
* To monitor and improve standards of care through clinical audit and quality improvement.
* Support students during placement and maintain educational file.
* Support the Nurse led Annual Assessments process.
* Attend clinic team huddles/discussions as required.
* Work alongside CFSN co-ordinating the CF bowel surveillance programme in line with the updated 2024 standards for clinical care of children and Adults with Cystic Fibrosis in the UK.
* Submit information and compile reports as requested using Cystic Fibrosis Data Base/HIVE.
* Provide support to other nursing services within the department.
* Attend Clinical / Educational meetings within the Cystic Fibrosis Department.
* Member of Cystic Fibrosis Nursing Association and attending / presenting at conferences locally, nationally, and internationally.
* Assist with information for Port Cystic Fibrosis data base /registry.
* Facilitate unit research through ensuring access to patients during clinic appointments.
* Opportunity to work alongside other CFSN to further develop skills specific to cystic fibrosis.

* NMC registration
* 3 Years experience as a Band 5 in an NHS setting
* Participation in clinical audits, patient surveys or quality improvement
* Evidence of relevant post qualification study at postgraduate level
* Experience of working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
