Job Summary:
Looking for a talented Senior Material Planner to join our niche Cameras & Imagers team. C&I designs and produces specialized scientific, and radiant hardened video cameras consisting of solid-state imaging systems utilized in life science applications. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Materials Planner is responsible for the materials management processes including supply chain and inventory while also developing strategies to improve on time delivery and make positive impacts on company revenue.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide oversight of the procurement and supply chain process to ensure that materials are on order and delivery dates support shipping schedules for finished product.
2. Interact with various functions including Finance, Sales, Procurement, Engineering, and Management to understand the business requirements and align on execution plans.
3. Provide oversight of the ERP system to ensure data integrity, reconciling any logical discrepancies in ERP to align with the physical inventory.
4. Effectively analyze inventory levels to minimize inventory days of supply (DoS) and minimize inventory carrying costs to meet the Operation’s annual operating plan (AOP).
5. Establish shipping schedules for the standard product lines in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
6. Develop and maintain the systems to accurately manage vendor lead times and order quantities to meet customer shipping schedules.
7. Manage the tracking of product returns through the quality, rework, and delivery process.
8. Develop tools and strategies for proactively identifying and resolving material shortages to prevent impact to established shipping schedules.
9. Lead the physical inventory process including reconciling cycle counts, managing non-conforming materials inventory, end of life stock, and scrap.
10. Prepare and analyze monthly inventory forecast reports in collaboration with Operations Management, forecasting financial impacts of inventory to AOP.
11. Manage and report on any vendor pricing inflation and purchased part variances (PPV).
12. Develop and collaborate on strategies to reduce inventory costs.
13. Maintain the ERP system for Operations and coordinate continuous improvements on the database with IT when required.
14. Ensure mid-stream engineering changes and drawing revisions are managed correctly in ERP system so that the proper part design levels are procured.
15. Act as a back-up for issuing purchase orders to vendors and confirmation of delivery times.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
2. 8 years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
3. 6 years’ experience with ERP systems in a materials coordination capacity.
Knowledge & Skills:
1. Strong knowledge of inventory management and supply chain processes.
2. Demonstrated history of providing leadership and oversight for a manufacturing materials organization.
3. Highly proficient with MS Excel including pivot tables and macros for data analysis.
4. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV considered an asset.
5. Strong analytical skills; able to synthesize and analyze high volumes of data.
6. Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks.
7. Excellent communication skills; listening, verbal and written.
8. Ability to problem solve and identify potential issues with demand or supply.
9. Detailed and process oriented.
