Mersey Care is collaborating with Cheshire & Mersey Acute and Specialist Trusts in 2025 to recruit our junior pharmacists in this intake. This joint recruitment process has been agreed in an attempt to streamline the process for candidates wishing to come and learn in our ICS and avoid the need for candidates to accept and later decline posts which leaves vacancies that are subsequently more difficult to recruit to.
Mersey Care has fantastic and highly rewarding opportunities for B6 Rotational Pharmacists to join our friendly and dynamic teams working across a diverse range of physical and mental health services. Our services have been restructured to support an enhanced service model under a senior leadership team which is fully committed to delivering outstanding services and investing in the development of its workforce.
Our roles provide an unparalleled opportunity to develop skills and experience across a wide range of clinical services. We provide a well-structured support system, including robust individual and group supervision and access to personal and professional development opportunities.
Previous hospital pharmacy or mental health experience is not essential. Induction and training will be provided. We welcome applications from newly registered pharmacists keen to work in secondary care or more experienced pharmacists looking for a new challenge or pharmacists seeking to gain experience or grow their expertise in mental and physical health.
Main duties of the job
It is an exciting time to join our team. We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacists with excellent communication, organisational and team-working skills to deliver clinical pharmacy services alongside multidisciplinary teams. You will be reliable, willing to learn, able to work on your own initiative and flexible to support the wider pharmacy team.
This role offers a unique opportunity to undertake rotations across intermediate care physical health wards, inpatient mental health, secure and learning disabilities services. Successful candidates will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to designated wards, providing specialist information and advice to all members of the multi-disciplinary team, to maximise patient pharmaceutical care.
IMPORTANT: The main departmental base is at Maghull Health Park but this post is rotational and regular work-related travel across various Mersey Care sites is required. The role is mainly clinically focused and includes a requirement to spend at least one session per week in the Maghull dispensary to develop and maintain core competencies. Successful applicants will be expected to support the out of hours advice only medicines advice service at a maximum rota frequency of 1 in 12, including weekend working in the dispensary between 9:30am-13:30pm.
