Fylde Coast Mental Health Support Team (MHST) is excited to be recruiting a Clinical Lead to become part of the MHST and wider Children and Young Peoples Primary Mental Health Services at this important development stage. The post holder will work closely with the Service Lead, Clinical Lead and Team Leaders to ensure the service provides early intervention and promotes good mental wellbeing to children and young people. Working across the Fylde Coast, you will undertake consultations, assessments and short-term evidence-based clinical interventions with children and young people. You will also provide support, advice and consultation to families/carers, education staff and other professionals. In addition, you will supervise practitioners within the team, and if you do not already have an Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) supervision qualification, training for this will be provided at a north-west university. Some evening and weekend working may be required as well as participating in the on-call rota so you will need a flexible attitude to the role. As this is a school-based service, the post holder will be expected to take their annual leave predominantly in the school holidays. Main duties of the job • Delivering case management and clinical supervision to qualified members of the team and trainees from the Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) or Children and Young People Wellbeing Practitioner (CYWP) IAPT training programme • Undertaking appropriate consultations, mental health assessments and short-term clinical intervention with children and young people • Developing a whole setting approach to good emotional wellbeing and mental health • Ensuring that the voice of children, young people and families is incorporated into all aspects of assessment and treatment. • Contribute to, and delivering, training programmes for all colleagues in the MHST and delivering training and development workshops for schools and colleges • Contributing to audit, research and evaluation of the service, ensuring an ongoing commitment to developing practice through research within the team • Provide specialist advice, guidance and consultation to other professional groups • Contribute to the development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of the services operational policies, procedures and pathways. Job responsibilities • Deliver case management and clinical supervision • Undertake appropriate consultations, mental health assessments and short-term clinical intervention with children and young people • Develop a whole setting approach to good emotional wellbeing and mental health • Ensure that the voice of children, young people and families is incorporated into all aspects of assessment and treatment. • Deliver training programmes for colleagues and delivering training and education staff • Contribute to audit, research and evaluation of the service • Support with the development of clinical pathways and processes Person Specification EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS Essential • Registration/accreditation with a professional body: e.g. BABCP, BPS, NMC, UKCP, HCPC, BACP • Core profession relevant to the post: e.g. EMHP, CBT Therapist, clinical psychologist, counsellor, educational psychologist, nurse, occupational therapist, social worker etc. Plus - appropriate level training in relevant therapeutic interventions • OR Masters Level training in relevant therapeutic interventions (i.e., CBT, family therapy, systemic therapy etc.) and be an accredited therapist • Certificate in Supervision Skills and/or willingness to complete as part of the Senior role within the team, at a North West university Desirable • Leadership courses, management courses/qualifications, mentorship training • Post graduate qualification/ Masters in Therapeutic intervention or relevant specialism. EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE Essential • Significant post qualification experience of working with children and young people in mental health services. • Experience of case load working within a multi-disciplinary team. • Experience of engaging with families/carers. • Experience of delivering low intensity interventions in school and education environments. • Expertise in assessing and managing risk, including safeguarding, completion of effective risk management plans and liaison with other relevant agencies. • Experience of providing evidence-based assessments, formulations and treatment packages and effectively utilising ROMS. • Experience of liaison and working with a range of other relevant agencies within a community model. • Experience of attending and contributing to professional meetings to support children, young people and families. • Experience of delivering group work and workshops to young people. • Experience of mentoring and supervision of others as well as supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of junior staff and trainees. • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of the importance of Clinical Governance and its application. • Experience of strategic understanding of services and key performance processes Desirable • Experience of working with children and young people in a variety of settings. • Experience of working with children and young people with additional/neurodevelopmental needs and from vulnerable groups • Experience in leadership and delivery of key performance targets. oSKILLS AND ABILITY Essential • Up to date knowledge of child mental health and relevant legislation. • Knowledge and understanding of common mental health stressors in an educational setting • Ability to assess, formulate and manage care appropriately and autonomously, ensuring discharge is timely and planned • Ability to deliver training to education staff and professionals • Ability to work autonomously in a community setting, making appropriate decisions • Proven use of evidence-based practice and the ability to demonstrate how this influences clinical practice. • Good knowledge of different outcome measures used in Children and Young Peoples settings and ability to apply these effectively to practice. • Ability to work as a part of a community team and to liaise effectively with other agencies i.e., education, GPs, maintaining positive working relationships. • Ability to manage distressing and challenging situations. • Ability to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people. • Ability to provide feedback and constructive guidance to junior members of the team and trainees to facilitate their personal and professional development. • Ability to self-reflect and critically appraise own performance. • Ability to manage own caseload, organise own time and diary, and meet deadlines • Ability to maintain high-quality clinical records and excellent report writing skills. • Ability to work across various locations as part of the role • Ability to work outside normal working hours as part of a school/college approach. • Car owner / driver with full UK drivers licence, or be mobile and able to visit various locations as and when required Desirable • Advanced keyboard skills and ability to communicate through IT using packages such as Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint • Knowledge and understanding of the research process
