Special needs teaching assistant - MUST BE A DRIVER
Zen Educate is currently looking to appoint a couple of special needs teaching assistants to take on full time work at a alternative provision starting in the New Year. This site requires their teaching assistants to be able to drive and have access to a car, this is due to staff as part of the work transporting students to and from school. The school caters to students of various ages with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and offer a great provision for children to express themselves and learn in a bespoke way that is not just sitting in the classroom all day.
Due to the nature of the students, we are looking for candidates that have experience in supporting and working with challenging behaviours. The ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of the time it takes to build relationships with such students and the need for boundaries as well as a consistent and empathetic approach to supportting their education.
This role is Monday to Friday and term time only.
Requirements;
- Experience with special needs, especially those with mental health difficulties
- School experience is ideal, but not essential, so we would certainly welcome anyone that has support children in a care home or has worked as a youth worker perhaps?
- Resilience with firm boundaries but an empathetic approach to behavours and struggles students may be going through either at school or at home
- A car driver, as part of the work all staff pick up and drop off students to and from school
- Flexible to the needs of the school, they have a few different sites, so there may be odd times where you may need to work another site from usual post
- An enhanced DBS on the update service, either by one you already hold or via on application
This is a great provision with lots of alternative offers for students and how they can get best out of school. If you are interested in doing something a bit different in education, get in touch with us today about what we can offer
