An opportunity for a housing provider in the West Midlands, working on FRA improvement works.
As a Fire Risk Carpenter, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and compliance of buildings through the installation, maintenance, and remediation of fire doors and associated passive fire protection systems. You'll work to strict fire safety regulations, ensuring all works meet current legislation and best practices related to fire compartmentation and life safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, inspect, maintain, and remediate fire doors and fire-rated timber components
Conduct fire-stopping works including sealing service penetrations and gaps using approved fire-resistant materials
Assess existing fire doors and structures for compliance with fire safety standards
Accurately document all work carried out, including photographic evidence and reports
Work closely with fire risk assessors and compliance teams to support remediation plans
Ensure all work adheres to FRA (Fire Risk Assessment) recommendations and current fire safety legislation
Requirements:
Proven experience as a carpenter, with specific experience in fire door installation and maintenance
Knowledge of fire safety standards (BS 8214, BS 476, etc.) and passive fire protection systems
Ability to work to specification and compliance requirements
CSCS Card and relevant qualifications in fire door maintenance (preferred: BM TRADA / FIRAS certification)
