Zeal Permanent Placements are recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our client based in Hinckley, Leicestershire.
Our client has been helping people transform their homes for over 90 years by designing and installing bespoke fitted furniture. As a family-run business with 25 showrooms nationwide, they continue to expand and manufacture all their furniture in Leicestershire, offering a full design, manufacturing, and installation service.
Role Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the Maintenance team. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of production equipment across two manufacturing sites in Hinckley. Your primary focus will be fault finding, reactive and proactive maintenance, project work, and inventory control to minimise operational disruptions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Diagnose and repair faults effectively on CNC, PLC, and PC-controlled machine tools and process control production equipment.
* Read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics/drawings to efficiently troubleshoot issues.
* Understand and fault-find motor control systems, including inverters, star delta control, and other drive systems.
* Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on machine safety circuits, dual-channel relays, and pneumatic systems.
* Provide expertise in PLC ladder logic, particularly Siemens S7 and Mitsubishi PLCs.
* Identify and source required spare parts to reduce downtime.
* Take a proactive approach to continuous improvement and personal/project contributions.
* Adhere to Health & Safety policies and report hazards or near misses promptly.
* Manage stock allocation, conduct stock checks, and maintain effective inventory control.
What We’re Looking For:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
* A strong understanding of electrical and pneumatic schematics and the ability to troubleshoot using them.
* Proven experience in motor control, inverters, star delta control, and PLC fault finding.
* A solid grasp of machine safety circuits, dual-channel relays, and pneumatic components.
* Apprenticeship training or time-served experience in multi-skilled maintenance.
* Experience working with CNC/PLC/PC-controlled machinery in a manufacturing setting.
* A problem-solving mindset with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
* Strong communication skills and an ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders.
* Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
