South Lanarkshire Council are seeking to recruit three Solicitors.
We are looking for talented, adaptable and enthusiastic solicitors who have a desire to work in local government to join our busy Legal Services Team which aims to provide the highest quality legal services and advice to the Council. The Legal Services team environment is supportive which will allow you to develop and gain experience of the workings of local government whilst undertaking varied and interesting work.
Commercial solicitor(s)
Two roles are within the Enterprise, Property and Procurement Team and will involve delivering a legal service to client services across the Council with a focus on commercial work. Experience in any of following disciplines is desirable but not essential, as this post may suit a newly qualified individual with full training being provided: procurement, contracts, construction, conveyancing, commercial property or planning.
Litigation Solicitor
One role is within the People and Communities Team and will involve providing representation and advice in litigation matters including child protection; permanence; adults with incapacity; adult support and protection; education matters including ASN tribunals; debt recovery and housing matters including ASBOs and recovery of heritable property.
You will require to undertake a range of litigation work for client services across the council and will be responsible for managing your own case load which will encompass a variety of matters. There will be opportunities and support to apply any existing knowledge or experience, and/or develop new skills, in these areas.
This post will suit a candidate with experience in general litigation.
