Our Farm
We are a family-run high input/high output modern dairy unit with the aim of producing quality efficient milk at the highest of standards. Our herd of over 1100 Holsteins is milked three times a day through a 60-point rotary parlour. Our current pregnancy rate stands at 30% with average yields of over 12,500 litres. We use Afi Milk and DairyComp 365 software to assist in the day-to-day running of the herd. We have a purpose-built transition facility to maximize cow welfare and output, which also gives our calves the best start in life with heifers being reared on the farm and in conjunction with a heifer rearer. We have invested heavily in our staff development and training alongside our equipment & infrastructure, allowing us to have a supportive and structured working environment, assisting your career growth.
Your Role
As a Herdsperson, you will be supporting the overall running of the dairy operation with roles and responsibilities including:
* Daily management of the herd's health and well-being, spotting and treating illnesses
* Ensuring all daily tasks are completed by the team
* Milking to a high and consistent standard, keeping the parlour clean and tidy
* Liaising with vets, nutritionists, and farm consultants
* Taking responsibility for dry cow management, calving cows and colostrum protocols
* Utilising the data provided and keeping compliance & records up to date
* Farm machinery and general farm maintenance
* General yard duties such as scraping, bedding, feeding and mucking out
As part of your role, you will work closely with the Farm owner to develop your existing skills and work towards agreed goals to progress your role.
Your Requirements
* A full UK Driving license
* Proof of UK right to work
* AI & Foot trimming qualifications preferred
* Telehandler & Forklift License preferred
