Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Clerical Officer to join our administration team, here in the Endoscopy Department.
As a clerical officer, your main duty will be working on reception and the admitting and discharging of patients and answering any general queries they may have.
Other duties will include registering new patients on our Patient Administration System (IPM), preparing patient notes, answering telephone queries, and dealing efficiently and professionally with the requests of all service users and patient enquiries while providing functional flexibility to meet the demands of the service.
Due to the nature of the work, you will be IT literate, able to use most Office software and work unsupervised. Previous experience in the health sector would be an advantage, and excellent customer service, the ability to work as part of a team, and work to tight deadlines is essential.
You will be expected to be flexible and support the department as and when the need arises. This could include cross-site cover at our Broadgreen Diagnostic Hub (should the need dictate).
Main duties of the job
To admit and discharge all patients for the Endoscopy unit and provide the necessary administrative support to ensure that a high-quality service is provided at all times, thereby affecting a smooth and efficient running of the department.
To work unsupervised but to be available to give advice to junior members of the team.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Admitting and discharging of patients on IPM.
Ensuring all necessary patient documentation is prepared in advance of their arrival.
Preparing patient packs to be delivered in advance of appointments.
Liaising with health professionals, wards A/E, and GP surgeries as required.
Registering new patients on the hospital system (IPM) PAS and adding to the appropriate waiting list.
Responsibility for ensuring all outcomes are recorded on the IPM PAS and patients removed from the waiting list as necessary in accordance with the Trust's access policy.

Qualifications
* GCSE/NVQ 2 or equivalent
Experience
* Previous experience of direct contact/liaison with patients/carers/general public & health professionals
Knowledge
* Working knowledge of a Hospital Administration System
Skills
* The ability to work independently as well as within a team
* The ability to access, prioritise and plan workload effectively
* Keyboard Skills
* Good telephone manner
* Ability to deal with the public with tact and discretion
