Engineering Manager (Mechanical Bias) - Industrial Manufacturing - West Midlands
I am currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Manager to join my client, an established & privately owned manufacturing business, based in the West Midlands. If you are an experienced Engineering / Maintenance Manager, Team Leader or Supervisor, educated to a minimum HNC level in a Mechanical Engineering Discipline (Degree would be preferred) and you have at least 10 years experience in an industrial manufacturing environment (5 years in a supervisory level role) I would like to talk to you.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Overall responsibility for the leadership of the Mechanical Engineering / Maintenance team (Headcount of 25).
2. Overall day-to-day management of the Mechanical Maintenance Department.
3. Review maintenance data to drive reliability improvements and OEE.
4. Organise and manage all planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring the highest level of productivity and machine / plant availability.
5. Support the HSE Team to maintain and promote a safe operating culture within the department, ensuring all aspects of installation and maintenance are undertaken to the highest levels of safety and meet all legal and statutory requirements and company procedures.
6. Work closely with Production Operations, Senior Management, and Suppliers in finding ways to improve process and increase machine reliability and performance.
7. Identify and Manage Performance Management and Training Requirements of the Team.
8. Liaison with external contacts and bodies, including suppliers, contractors, and external agencies (HSE, Insurance Inspectors etc).
Candidate Requirements:
1. Ideally educated to Degree level in Mechanical Engineering.
2. Minimum 10 years maintenance experience in an Industrial manufacturing environment.
3. A minimum of 5 years Supervisory / Management experience.
4. The ability to manage multiple complex jobs simultaneously to meet the ongoing changes in operational priorities.
5. Excellent knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
6. Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to drive change management.
7. Continuous Improvement mindset, ideally with experience of driving CI and Operational Excellence projects.
8. Previous experience of operating / working within a COMAH registered manufacturing environment would be highly desirable.
9. Previous experience within Industrial Manufacturing environments is highly desirable, as would be experience of process-based, high hazard manufacturing.
