We are looking for an approachable, customer service orientated person to join our small team in the Library at Prince Charles Hospital. This is a permanent, part-time post working 15 hours per week, on a Thursday and Friday.
The successful candidate will require excellent communication skills, a good level of computing skills and the ability to work as part of a team, while also being confident to work on their own initiative.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for library users helping them with their basic enquiries while referring more complex queries to the other staff.
They will assist at the Library Issue Desk with day to day routine work such as issuing and renewing loans and general user enquiries. The post involves the inputting of data onto the library management system, the preparation and maintenance of library stock plus the sending and receiving of inter library loans.
The successful candidate will provide clerical support to other library staff and will assist with the maintenance of library records as requested. They will also be required to file library resources including the shelving of books, journals and other materials. The post also involves the provision of basic IT support where possible and the collecting and reporting of basic statistics.
Person specification
Education/Qualifications/Training
* Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
* Prepared to study for City & Guilds Progression Award in Library and Information Services (Level 3).
* Educated to ECDL level or equivalent IT qualification.
Experience
* Experience of working in a library environment.
* Experience in a healthcare environment.
* Experience of working in a customer orientated service.
Skills
* Good level of computing skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with colleagues from a wide range of disciplines.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of Office software applications.
* Knowledge of ALMA Library Management System.
* Knowledge of health libraries.
* Knowledge of Copyright, Designs and Patents Act.
* Knowledge of Dewey Classification System.
