Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced neurological Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Stroke Therapy inpatient team working at Wycombe Hospital.
This role will suit someone who is passionate about providing high-quality care and rehabilitation for stroke patients, working together with the diverse MDT and in partnership with patients and families.
The post holder will be supported by the Head Occupational Therapist, Clinical Specialist OT for Neurology as well as working alongside other experienced Band 7 Therapists, Band 6s and more junior therapists and assistants.
Main duties of the job
1. Lead and develop the Occupational Therapy team within Neurology and Acute Rehabilitation, regarding all aspects of clinical governance within this specialty.
2. Perform specialised assessment and treatment for patients with highly complex neurological presentations and needs, and provide expert advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers, relatives and others.
3. Undertake all aspects of clinical responsibilities as a skilled, autonomous and advanced practitioner.
4. Actively lead the development of professional and service initiatives, and contribute to organisational objectives.
5. Supervise, teach and appraise Occupational Therapy staff and students within the specialty.

Education Qualification and training
* Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Current registration with Health Professions Council
* Membership of professional special interest group
* Field work/clinical educators course
* BAOT Membership
Experience
* Working experience at Band 6 level
* Attendance at postgraduate courses in Bobath / normal movement concepts
* Ability to work and interact effectively within an interdisciplinary team
* Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development and reflective practice
* Experience in supervision of junior staff/support staff
* Establish and maintain CPD Portfolio
* Demonstration of having initiated change of practice or process following identification of clinical or service need
* Experience in related fields at senior level
* Experience in student clinical supervision
