Job Title: Managing Director (Manufacturing & R&D Research) Location: Havant (Must reside within less than 1 hours commute to the Havant office) Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home Salary: Competitive, based on experience Comprehensive benefits package As Managing Director you will be responsible for the R&D, Testing, Training, Sales and Supply Chain Management for the Universal Joint (UJ) and Interconnectivity solutions and products. The role has full P&L responsibility and in addition to being responsible for the management of sales activity it will include management of sites as well as the preparation, procurement, inventory, testing and quality control in relation to all products and services covered by this business unit. The role covers the activities across the following locations: Havant : Encompassing Purchasing, Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT), Quality Control and Assurance, and Dispatch operations. Essex : Focusing on Research & Development (R&D), Training, Testing, and Sales functions. Key Deliverables: Manage and lead the Sales team to maximise revenue and margin of UJ and related products by taking the lead with specific Customers and Tier 1 suppliers. Manage sales forecasts and department overhead budgets, maintaining accurate records and invoicing of internal and external projects. Manage both internal and external HSE, Quality and Risk Management systems which includes the maintenance and implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with requirements for both internal and external audits. Implement, maintain and negotiate Long Term Supply Agreements (LTSA) where necessary to ensure smooth customer deliveries by supplying products on time to satisfy the customer requirement. Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships that allows the full traceability of kits, components and dispatch documentation. Effective cost and quality control of the downstream supply chain. Ensuring supplier selection is compliant with GMSL purchasing procedures and standards. Maintain and ensure a rigorous stock management system. Ensure manufacturing site complies with CAA "Known Consignor" recognition. Work closely with various internal stakeholders, including departments such as sales, marketing, finance, operations, and HR, to align objectives, streamline processes, and ensure the successful execution of projects and initiatives. Work closely with the Managers in Essex to ensure design drawings and specifications are accurate and NPI processes followed to ensure a smooth transition design to production and subsequent customer delivery. Develop within the company a "one system" approach to drive out duplication and inefficiencies. Oversee the transitions from Sage to IFS working closely with the transition team. Qualifications/Skills/Experience Required: MBA or equivalent. Strong Mechanical and Electrical Engineering background is essential. Experience within Marine / Telecommunications / Cabling highly desirable. Extensive experience in supply chain and manufacturing management. Proficiency in stock management and control, with familiarity in MRP systems like SAGE or IFS. Budgeting, financial management, and contract management expertise. Experience implementing and maintaining quality control and assurance systems. Knowledge of IT infrastructure requirements Proven ability to manage teams across multiple locations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong report writing and negotiating abilities. Visionary mindset with a drive to achieve goals.
