The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applicants to a full-time Consultant Haematologist post to expand the existing team of eight consultants across the two acute hospitals.

The main base hospital for the role is at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital situated in central Exeter. This historic city is well served by rail, road and air links. There are a number of Good to Outstanding Ofsted-rated local schools and the Trust has an on-site Ofsted graded Outstanding Nursery. Duties include a one in eight on-call attending rota, a weekly clinic, MDTs, contribution to laboratory, MDT meetings, research and teaching.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Each member of the consultant team contributes equally to the haematology service at North Devon District Hospital (visiting 27 times on average per year). The hospital is situated on the North Devon coastline in an area of outstanding natural beauty with easy access to popular surfing beaches with the area attracting many holiday visitors throughout the year.
The haematology unit in Exeter is a BCSH level 3 facility, with level 1 services provided in the new purpose-built Seamoor daycase unit in North Devon. There is a joint MDT between the two Trusts, serving a total population in excess of 500,000.
There is a portfolio of network and commercial studies open, with a team of research staff, and opportunities to develop studies in conjunction with the University of Exeter several such studies have been set up and recruited to by the existing team. Extensive opportunities exist to develop clinical sub-specialisation at local, regional, and national level where appropriate, as well as teaching at under and post-graduate level, including teaching on the University of Exeter BMBS course.
The successful candidate must possess (or be within 6 months of receiving) a certificate of completion of training (CCT) in haematology, or equivalent.
