The Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join our primary school, supporting children aged 4–11 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will work closely with students and staff to conduct assessments, identify individual challenges and strengths, and provide one-on-one mentoring to encourage positive behaviour and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities:
* Mentoring: Provide individual mentoring to students to support their emotional well-being and academic progress.
* Engagement: Develop positive relationships with students to foster a sense of belonging and motivation to learn.
* Behaviour Support: Implement and promote strategies for managing behaviour and resolving conflicts.
* Collaboration: Work alongside teachers, educational psychologists, and other support staff to create and review personalized learning plans.
* Monitoring Progress: Regularly assess students’ academic and personal development and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders.
* Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and well-being of all students in line with school safeguarding policies.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Experience: Previous experience working with young people in a mentoring or support role, ideally within a PRU or alternative education setting.
* Empathy & Patience: A compassionate and understanding approach to working with young people facing various challenges.
* Behaviour Management Skills: A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and the ability to apply them in real-world settings.
* Team Player: Able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
* Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and motivate young people.
* Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or youth work are desirable but not essential.
