The Systems Engineer role is an integral part of the Digital Displacement Business within Danfoss Power Solutions’ Incubation Division. The digital nature of the technology lends itself to deep and novel system integration. To extract benefits, it is necessary to think how the digital machines can be integrated among all systems of the applications. The applicant will therefore need to be eager to develop in several domains including hydraulic systems, control systems, mechanical design, and data analysis. This role will be a great opportunity for a mechanical or control engineer looking to make a meaningful impact across a diverse range of projects and develop their knowledge in a variety of topics. This Engineer will be exposed to many facets of the application of Digital Displacement in diverse applications including off-highway machinery and industrial equipment. The Engineer will work with customers and other teams to analyse systems, identify and resolve problems, and generate descriptive information, through a practical approach of test and measurement. They will use the outcomes of their analysis to develop novel technical solutions, and test these solutions for function and endurance to verify the benefit to our customers. The Engineer will report to a Senior Systems Engineer and work with them across a broad range of mechanical and systems engineering topics with potential to specialise into one of several areas in the future, within the diverse DD organisation. Job Responsibilities The Systems Engineer will be responsible for: Work with our customers to develop hydraulic system solutions for their applications Record and analyze system data to identify and resolve problems, and generate useful content for the rest of the organization Model hydraulic systems to estimate energy savings and design technical solutions Commission and test first-of-a-kind vehicles and systems Run and support endurance testing of hydraulic systems Determine requirements for new or modified products to better suit customer demands Engage and coordinate with our product team to turn customer data and test results into tools and guidelines for the whole organization and develop new solutions Occasionally travel offsite for customer support and testing Background & Skills The successful Systems Engineer will demonstrate: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Alternatively, extensive industry experience will be considered. Experience in Matlab and Simulink (or equivalent) and Excel for mathematical modelling and data analysis, and model-based control development Experience working with data acquisition systems, eg setting up sensors and measurement of data, would be beneficial Knowledge of or exposure to embedded software development or coding would be beneficial Some experience with hydraulics, mechanical equipment, vehicle mechanics, or basic electronic circuitry Capable of engaging in hands-on work requiring problem solving across multiple technical disciplines Must be able to work flexibly and adapt to changing problems and requirements.
