The role
As a Vehicle Technician Trainer, you'll join a team of talented training professionals who deliver technical courses to military students of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).
Day-to-day, you’ll prepare relevant training material, collaborating with the Media and Graphics Department to create Initial Trade Training material for delivering training.
* Maintain a Continuous Personal Development (CPD) portfolio regarding new technologies and equipment, ensuring lesson plans and training sessions are developed in accordance with approved Learner Specifications, Course specifications, and Course Training Plans.
* Review course material and content to ensure it is current and evolves to support equipment and technology advances, using the most appropriate training aids.
* Assess trainees, including the creation of written examinations, practical assessment scenarios, and continuous assessments. Mark examination papers, set and mark course and homework, and invigilate examinations and assessments.
* Ensure trainee development through monitoring, feedback, appraisal, discipline, and training interventions, maintaining supporting documentation and flagging any special trainee developmental needs or training delays to the Lead Trainer (LT).
This role is full time, 37 hours per week, based on site at MOD Lyneham, Wiltshire, approximately 7 miles (11 km) north-east of Chippenham and 10 miles (16 km) south-west of Swindon.
Essential experience of the Vehicle Technician Trainer
* Vehicle Technician background
* Strong team player – ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders
* Organised, with great time management and a proactive manner
* Clear and effective communication – written and verbal
* Workshop experience with proven diagnostic skills (Light vehicle or HGV); military leavers with vehicle inspection experience (HGV or armoured) are beneficial but not essential.
* Strong IT literacy skills
Qualifications for the Vehicle Technician Trainer
* Minimum City & Guilds Part 3/NVQ L3 or Apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance (Heavy or Light automotive vehicle, plant machinery) or equivalent military qualifications, gained as Class 1 REME Vehicle Mechanic or similar RN/RAF trade
* No previous training experience is required as we will develop you into the role. Provided you can show the required level of technical experience and willingness to learn, full training and funding will be provided to gain Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training during the probation period. Once gained, the salary for this position will rise to £37,223.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
