About the Role We are looking for a passionate and creative Marketing and Communications Officer to help grow Temwa’s reach, engagement, and impact. In this role, you’ll be responsible for shaping our messaging, building our brand, and ensuring our supporters stay informed and inspired. Your work will involve managing and developing an engaging social media strategy, writing compelling content, and promoting fundraising campaigns and events. A key part of this role is growing our digital audience, increasing engagement, and ensuring our online presence reflects the impact of our work. You’ll also work closely with our team in Malawi to gather and share powerful stories that showcase the difference we make. As part of a small team, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of key projects, contribute ideas, and play a vital role in strengthening our marketing and communications strategy. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys storytelling, has an eye for detail, and thrives in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment. The role is for 16 hours per week. We are open to discussing work patterns and preferred working days with the right candidate. Key Responsibilities - Develop and implement an engaging social media strategy to grow Temwa’s audience and reach. - Create and manage engaging content for social media, website, newsletters, and marketing materials. - Promote events, campaigns, and fundraising initiatives through digital and traditional channels. - Liaise with the Malawi team to collect and share inspiring case studies and impact stories. - Monitor and analyse communication performance, using insights to refine strategies. - Maintain brand consistency and assist in evolving our communications approach. About You Essential: - Experience in marketing or communications. - Strong copywriting, content creation, and digital marketing skills. - Experience with social media management, website CMS (WordPress), and email marketing. - Ability to develop and execute strategies to grow audience engagement. - Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects. Desirable: - Experience in the non-profit sector. - Knowledge of fundraising communications. - Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools. About Temwa Temwa is a small but impactful Bristol-based international development charity, dedicated to working with remote communities in Northern Malawi to tackle poverty and drive long-term change. We support projects in education, health, sustainable agriculture, and forestry, supporting local people to build stronger, self-reliant communities. With over 20 years of experience, we take a community-led approach, working directly with local teams and structures to ensure solutions are effective and sustainable. Our Malawi team of over 25 staff leads on-the-ground projects, while our UK team in Bristol focuses on fundraising, partnerships, and raising awareness. We also work closely with supporters, businesses, and volunteers in the UK, inspiring them to be part of the movement for change.
