YOUTH COMMUNITY CHAMPION OFFICER – JOBS PLUS
The Youth Community Champion will be responsible for engaging with young residents on the Wybourn estate and encouraging them to sign up to the Jobs plus programme, promoting the benefits of the programme and working in the community to promote the activities provided by the Jobs Plus Programme.
You will work with customers from across the Wybourn estate in Sheffield, ensuring consistency of offer to customers on the Wybourn estate and aligning service delivery with the aims and objectives of the Jobs Plus Programme, as well as the guiding principles stated within the Community Investment model.
Who we are looking for;
* Being in-touch with the community on Wybourn and alert to their needs. To identify what provisions are already in place and how effective they are, then establish what new services are required, depending on those local needs.
* Increasing awareness, understanding and knowledge of the Jobs Plus Programme of activity. Helping the project and funders understand the real needs of the communities they represent.
* Undertaking successful outreach and engagement – getting local people actively involved.
* Empowering local people to take part, have their voices heard and recognise that their concerns, hopes and needs are listened to and taken seriously.
* Addressing health inequalities in both the short-term and long-term.
* Assisting the project team with delivery of activities at the Pat Midgely centre and across the local area as required.
* To ensure that record keeping systems are accurately updated in a timely manner for all contacts and customers.
* To ensure safeguarding concerns are dealt with promptly and in line with guidelines and appropriate action is taken. Training will be given.
* To ensure all customer complaints / issues are recorded and responded to in a timely manner.
* To work flexibly, working unsociable hours, weekends and Bank Holidays as required maintaining good customer service and partnerships, and also from time to time representing Great Places at customer and other stakeholder events.
What we need from you;
* Has knowledge of issues facing social housing customers and neighbourhoods
* Ability to engage and build relationships with potential or trusted partner agencies or organisations, developing appropriate contacts and future networking opportunities
* Knowledge of challenges faced by customers in Wybourn/Sheffield
* Willing to learn coaching techniques to help customers identify actions and solutions for themselves, promoting and maximising independence
* Willing to learn how to deliver excellent service in a customer focussed environment.
* Good written and verbal communication.
* Ability to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner when working under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
* Proficient in the use of a wide range of Microsoft Office applications or the willingness to learn.
* Experience of administration and recording procedures, maintaining confidentiality in line with data protection and safeguarding regulations or the willingness to learn.
* The ability to develop and project a positive image of Great Places through personal, written and verbal skills
* Ability to act as an Ambassador for Great Places
* Experience and or willingness to learn an understanding of safeguarding
* Good listener
* Can provide non-judgemental support and encouragement to people in difficult situations
* Are able to respect confidentiality in difficult situations
* Are respectful and supportive of people regardless of background
* Are interested in helping people to find ways to solve their problems
* Enjoy meeting people
