As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the quality of components and materials provided by our suppliers.
You will work closely with suppliers and the internal Quality Assurance department to ensure that they meet our high standards for quality, solve any issues that arise, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain and in our facility in India.
What you’ll be doing:
* Evaluate new suppliers and conduct periodic audits of existing suppliers to assess performance.
* Recommend and implement improvements for supplier quality systems and supplier documentation, including PPAPs, FMEAs, and control plans.
* Review customer contract documentation and flow down QA requirements including ITP, APQP.
* Ensure that incoming materials and components meet required specifications through inspection and testing.
* Work with suppliers to resolve non-conformance issues and develop corrective action plans (CAPA).
* Coordinate witness of supply chain activities.
* Ensure consistency in supplier quality management between UK and India operations.
* Perform First Article Inspections in supplier’s facility if required.
* Collaborate with suppliers to drive continuous improvement initiatives, improving product quality and reducing costs.
* Implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance supplier processes and reduce defects.
* Provide training and support to suppliers and our facility in India to help them meet quality expectations.
* Conduct and maintain records of quality assessments, audits, and corrective actions.
* Generate reports on supplier performance, including defect rates and quality trends.
* Develop and maintain a vendor rating system and manage standard policies, processes, and programs for the supplier base.
Who we’re looking for:
We ask that you have over 2 years’ experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and industry standards, proficiency in quality tools such as FMEA, 8D, SPC, and PPAP, and experience in the bearings or heavy manufacturing industry or other project-based engineering business is desirable.

It is required that you have the ability to travel to supplier sites both in the UK and internationally, have familiarity with hydrodynamic bearing technologies or similar manufacturing processes, HNC in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field, and a Full UK driving licence.
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field, and Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification is desirable.
