WL West is a hardwood timber specialist based near Petworth, West Sussex. The family run business has been established for over 200 years. We are able to produce an extensive range of bespoke hardwood products not limited to decking, pergolas, cladding, shingles, worktops, doors etc on our twelve acre site. We have a fully equipped workshop for moulding profile work, fresh sawn machining, five axis CNC and more.
Following recent management changes, a new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sales Manager, who preferably has timber knowledge and/or construction industry knowledge and experience, to complement our existing salesforce and to develop new business opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A self-motivated, customer focused approach is essential for this wide-ranging role which requires drive and determination to seek out and develop self-generated leads against agreed new business targets, together with account management experience to manage an existing portfolio and develop it more and prospect to gain market share.
Establish and maintain existing partnerships with timber merchants, garden centres, large scale project managers, architects and other timber users.
Lead by example the office based sales staff and report directly to the managing director, reporting on leads, orders, sales strategies and giving feedback working to an agreed budget.
Occasionally represent the company as required at trade fairs, county shows and exhibitions.
Update the CRM system and Bistrack software system.
REQUIREMENTS
Proven sales management experience in related or construction sector.
Excellent communication skills, effective negotiator, computer literate with excellent presentation skills to a wide selection of timber users and specifiers.
Sales focused and margin orientated with an eye for added value. A self-starter that is highly motivated with ability to work independently and as part of the team.
Good knowledge of timber products and their applications and end users and mathematically sound.

Generous basic salary of £38,000 to £40,000 plus performance-based commission.
Company car, fuel card, laptop, contributory pension scheme.
No Weekends - Monday to Friday working 8 am to 5 pm, very occasional Saturday working during trade shows/county fairs.
