Health & Safety Lead | Drive Safety Excellence in a Hands-On Role
My client are a global leading FMCG Business that are known for supplying world class products that support the sport and fitness industry. They have a strong reputation for their high quality range of products trusted by professional athletes right the way through to every day users. They have a brand new facility in Blackburn, and are looking for an experience Health & Safety manager who’s skilled in hands-on management and strategic oversight, committed to embedding safety into every aspect of our work environment. In this role, you’ll not only set our Health and Safety (H&S) agenda but also work closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to prioritise safety at every level.
Safety Strategy & Implementation – Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive H&S policies, covering everything from risk assessment to hazard control and incident response.
Stakeholder Engagement – Communicate performance and proactive measures effectively to senior leadership, influencing H&S priorities and driving change across the organisation.
Coaching & Training – Guide managers and empower employees with hands-on training, safety education, and incident-response protocols to ensure everyone feels equipped and confident.
Compliance & Auditing – Ensure full compliance with H&S legislation, leading audits, liaising with external agencies, and swiftly responding to incidents to maintain the highest safety standards.
Shape and lead our Health & Safety strategy, ensuring all compliance and regulatory requirements are met and proactively identifying areas for improvement.
Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to uphold safety in high-risk areas, implement preventive measures, and address any gaps in compliance.
Serve as the H&S expert, coaching and training teams on safety best practices, emergency response, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
Collaborate closely with departments like Quality, Production, and Maintenance to align safety with operations, creating a safety-first culture at every level.
Experience & Expertise – NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma (or equivalent) and ideally, 2-5 years of safety management experience in food manufacturing or FMCG environments.
Strategic Influence – You know how to spot potential hazards, and you’re skilled at guiding the team and influencing leaders to prioritize safety.
Strong Communicator & Collaborator – Clear and concise communication skills are key, as you’ll work across departments to drive engagement in safety programs and share updates on safety initiatives.
Your impact will be measured through a range of key metrics, including incident rate reduction, training compliance, and engagement in safety programs. We’ll work with you on a personalized performance plan to support your ongoing growth and development, empowering you to excel in this role.
