Job overview
To assist in the provision of a breast imaging service to the highest quality standards, using the skills and resources available within the department effectively and efficiently. The post holder will work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
Main duties of the job
1. To undertake all radiographic duties associated with the Breast Screening programme and the symptomatic breast imaging service, including radiographic assessment of tissue samples.
2. To ensure that the clinical area is safe for practice by maintaining cleanliness and ensuring materials and equipment are ready for use.
3. Collect, collate, and report information, ensuring accurate patient records and documentation are maintained.
4. Involve patients, relatives/carers in the delivery of care, providing reassurance and support to assist their understanding and cooperation.
5. Undertake equipment testing according to the agreed quality assurance programme and document results, taking action when results are out of tolerances.
6. Contribute to the development of teams, individuals, and self-enhancement of performance, promoting best practice.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Radiography or equivalent
* Currently registered with HCPC
Knowledge and Skills
* Proven ability to handle sensitive and difficult situations
* IT skills/experience of working with digital images/PACs
* Knowledge of NHS breast screening programme and standards
Experience
* Relevant clinical experience in a hospital setting
* Previous mammography experience
* Knowledge of NBSS
