Operating Department Practitioner - The Fordcombe Hospital
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Registered Nurses and Operating Department Professionals (ODPs) to join our newly acquired hospital in Fordcombe. We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals with anaesthetic experience to work with our Theatre team at The Fordcombe Hospital. The role would involve working in a variety of specialist areas. Applicants must be a fully registered ODP or have a post registration nursing course in anaesthetics. If you do not hold a valid NMC or HCPC registration your application will be automatically rejected.
Main duties of the job
1. Assist in the delivery of patient care
2. Be a skilled member of the Operating Theatre Anaesthetic Team in a variety of specialities
3. Promote and deliver best evidence-based practice within your own scope of practice
4. Coordinate the use of supplies and equipment, ensuring that it is used in an appropriate and safe manner
5. Assist the anaesthetic team throughout the perioperative phase of care
6. Communicate appropriately with the multidisciplinary team involved in the care of the patient
7. Take part in all appropriate safety checks including WHO and complete all necessary documentation as required

All successful applicants will be required to complete our corporate trust induction once a start date has been agreed.
Following your corporate induction you will be expected to attend the Trust's 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
