Exciting opportunity for the role of Practice Development Nurse within CYP. With our evolving Level 2 High Dependency Unit programme, we are keen to support the education, training, and practice development strategies.
The aim of this role is to support the continuing professional development and delivery of relevant programmes of education and training across the CYP directorate. The focus of this role will be the evolution and growth of the HDU service by supporting the development of relevant competency and skill attainment.
You will be expected to work in partnership with the CYP ward manager, Matron, and the critical care network to ensure effective training and support strategies while monitoring their effectiveness.
Work clinically alongside registered and non-registered staff, promoting and delivering education practice and the implementation of policies to ensure a workforce ‘fit for purpose’ and ‘fit for practice’.
In partnership with higher education institutions, support the education, training, and development of learners on both Pre and Post Registration programmes.
Our PDN will be a strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible, and accessible. Leading by example, he/she will support and develop improvements in standards of clinical care and have the authority to get the essential components of care right for children, young people, and their families.
* You will be expected to work innovatively within the Education Team towards the delivery of competency completion and skill acquisition.
* Development of HDU education and supervision programme, as well as ongoing support and refreshers.
* Actively facilitate staff development by ensuring all staff receive an effective Preceptorship, clinical supervision, and act as a supervisor and mentor.
* Ensure all staff undertake and complete a comprehensive local induction programme.
* Communicate effectively with the Education and Practice Development Team (Divisional and Trust), Matrons, Clinical Teams, Medical and AHP staff, and Divisional Management Teams.
* Share best practice in the clinical area and outside of the Directorate.
