Role Overview
We are seeking 3 highly motivated Greenhouse Assistants to support daily operations within our greenhouse and growth chamber facilities. This role is critical to ensuring cultivation of our crops and the success of our R&D and breeding programs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for plants, attention to detail and the ability to work in a dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the daily care and maintenance of greenhouse plants, including sowing, transplanting, irrigating, fertilizing, crossing, harvesting and disease and pest control.
* Monitor plant health and environmental conditions, and report any abnormalities.
* Assist in programming climate control and setting light and/or irrigation regimes of greenhouse compartments and growth chambers.
* Support the setup and maintenance of experiments, including task registration, scanning, plant labelling and data collection.
* Maintain cleanliness and organization of greenhouse spaces, tools and equipment.
* Assist in inventory management of supplies.
* Adhere to established protocols for plant health, safety and biosecurity.
Qualifications and Skills:
* High school or bachelor’s degree in plant science, horticulture, agriculture or related field.
* Previous experience working in greenhouses and/or growth chambers is a plus.
* Basic knowledge of plant care, growth cycles and common pests and diseases.
* Ability to work full-time with flexibility during the peak periods of planting, crossing or harvesting.
* Adaptability and enthusiasm for new challenges, innate curiosity and eagerness to learn and continuously improve.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Effectively communicate in Dutch and English.
* Basics in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and familiarity with relevant data management tools.
* Possess a driver's license B; willing to drive a company van to the Greenhouse located in Nevele.
