Job summary
Anopportunity has arisen for a Senior Medical Secretary to join our CardiologyTeam at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. This post is a part time 12 month fixed termcontract, providing full secretarial support within a busy department. The successful candidate will need to be anexperienced secretary who thrives on a challenge and is confident and competentat prioritising their workload efficiently. You should possess excellent typing andcommunication skills. Furthermore, werequire a motivated individual to provide a professional service to ourpatients and clinical staff whilst having a working knowledge of Microsoftword, email and the Trusts IT systems.
Ifyou are an experienced medical secretary, AMSPAR or equivalent this would be anadvantage.

Job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
AllSecretaries should be able to undertake the following duties and are expectedto work in teams to fulfil the requirements of the service.
Toundertake medical audio/copy typing duties, including outpatient letters toGPs, discharge summaries and other official correspondence.
Toaccept enquiries from clinicians, GPs Health Service and Social Servicespersonnel, other hospitals, voluntary agencies, patients and theirrelatives. Patient contact by telephoneis an integral part of the role.
Towork using own initiative with minimal supervision, prioritising own workloadin line with objectives of the department and consultant teams.
Todeal with all incoming correspondence, phone, fax and email in an efficient andeffective way.
Toliaise with other members of the secretarial/administration team in order toprovide a co-ordinated and efficient secretarial service.
Tosupport the Directorate Management Team with the administration, tracking andvalidation of patients pathways to achieve the National 18-week Referral To Treatment (RTT) target.
Toliaise with patients, relatives and staff demonstrating sensitivity andmaintaining professionalism at all times.
Todeal with any complaints, problems or issues in a sensitive way, escalating toclinicians/management as appropriate.
Ensureconfidentiality is maintained at all times, complying with the Data ProtectionAct, Information Governance and other Trust/Departmental Policies.
Toassist in providing cover for other secretaries in the Medical Directorate toensure continuity of service to Consultant, medical staff, service users andpatients.
Toundertake any other duties as may be required/appropriate by the DirectorateManagement Team.
