Control Systems Engineer - The Role:
1. Interpret client specifications and translate them to functional design specifications and develop robust and efficient system solutions.
2. Design of electrical control systems from scratch and amend existing designs using a proprietary electrical design software package (Eplan, Autocad Electrical).
3. Design of control system PLC and HMI software from scratch and make amendments/upgrades to existing system software, in line with technical specifications (Siemens TIA).
4. Create and develop standard software and graphical interface modules for all products and equipment.
5. Integrate electrical and software designs into fully functioning control systems for industrial systems.
6. Produce and develop system testing plans, lead the setting up/pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing (FAT & SAT), and site installation, as well as providing supporting documentation right up to system handover.
7. Manage contractors and subcontracting activities within own discipline to support project execution.
8. Provide technical support, on site or remote, for all products and equipment.
9. Author, or contribute to as required, equipment operations and maintenance manuals as well as test books.
10. Maintain all design records and version control.
11. Ensure compliance with electrical regulations and safety requirements.
12. Carry out all work in accordance with QHE QMS.
13. Occasional site work in the UK and overseas.
Control Systems Engineer - The Person:
1. HNC and above and at least 5 years in a similar role designing electrical systems in an industrial/special purpose machinery environment with expert knowledge in designing PLC/HMI control software.
2. A sound knowledge of current technology and systems.
3. Competence in the use of Siemens TIA and Allen Bradley.
4. Must have working knowledge of proprietary network technologies (Profinet and Ethernet particularly) supported by the major PLC/HMI vendors.
