We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Orthotist to join our in-house Orthotic team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals.
The Trust provides an Orthotic service to Mid and North Nottinghamshire through its base at King's Mill Hospital. Out-patient clinics and In-patient cover are also provided at Mansfield Community Hospital, Newark Hospital and specialised outreach clinics.
This is a great opportunity to work as an NHS Orthotist within a fully integrated service. We also have our own purpose-built in-house manufacturing workshop and a well-established team. We strive to provide an excellent quality Orthotic service to our local population.

Main duties of the job
* Accept referrals from healthcare professionals and undertake clinical assessment and examination of patients to provide suitable specialist orthotic clinical-technical prescriptions.
* Use measurement and data acquisition techniques in recording all pertinent information to ensure the accuracy of patient prescriptions.
* Specify the design, componentry, materials, fabrication method and suppliers of orthoses and order individual items to meet the patient's clinical needs.
* Perform risk assessments in the selection of components for customised devices to ensure patient safety.
* Evaluate the completed device on the patient to ensure the desired quality of body-device interface, functional alignment, comfort, cosmetic appearance and mechanical integrity and safety.
* Refer patients to other disciplines to ensure appropriate care.
* Give clinical and professional advice to the multi-disciplinary team regarding appropriate orthotic provision for patients.
* Advise and maintain effective liaison with technical support personnel including assistance with training to ensure best current technical practice in meeting patients' needs.

Person Specification
Further Training
* Relevant post graduate 'masters module' level external clinical / technical courses
* Remain updated with professional practice and new research
Experience
* Experience at Band 5 Orthotist level with a range of experience in orthotics
* Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues
* Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
Contractual Requirements
* Full UK driving licence
* Access to own transport
Knowledge
* Knowledge in all core areas of Orthotics
* Communicate written & oral information in a clear and logical manner
* Deliver undergraduate student supervision and clinical education to graduate standard
* Good communication and listening skills with an understanding of the needs of people with disabilities and their carers
* To be flexible, empathic and reliable
* Ability to organise, problem solve, prioritise and delegate
* Ability to keep accurate and legible patient notes
* Able to demonstrate expert knowledge of gait analysis
* Supervisory skills
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) Degree in Prosthetics & Orthotics or equivalent qualification
* Current state registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
* CPD Portfolio showing evidence of reflective practice, relevant experience, and additional training
* Member of the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists

Depending on experience B5: £29,970 - 36,483 per annum, B6: £37,338 - £44,962 per annum
