Job Title: Hardware Design Authority About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and high-performing Principal Hardware Engineer to join our team, focusing on Assured Position Navigation and Timing (APNT), Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems, and Alternative Navigation Solutions for military applications. The role will provide design authority expertise across our APNT product range, offering technical direction throughout the product lifecycle—from requirements capture, analysis, design, testing, and qualification to certification, release to volume production, and ongoing product sustainability. You will tackle complex technical challenges related to new and existing GPS Anti-Jam products. Main Responsibilities: As a key member of the technical leadership team, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering for APNT, your responsibilities will include: Providing technical leadership and direction to the engineering hardware team with Design Authority responsibility for assigned products. Supporting the development of strategies and roadmaps for the APNT team. Leading technical input for bids, proposals, and engineering estimates for new business acquisition. Collaborating with the System Engineering Team to develop and shape technical requirements, design specifications, and technical documentation throughout the design lifecycle. Managing both direct and indirect teams, including performance goal setting, recognition, and timesheet management. Representing engineering in the production Integrated Product Team (IPT) regarding production queries, obsolescence management, and change management. Overseeing technical design reviews, qualification, verification, validation, and certification of designs, ensuring the highest customer standards. Engaging in Research & Development for both existing and new products in the APNT division. Supporting and mentoring junior engineers to promote team growth and long-term success. Candidate Requirements: Proven experience in product development at a team lead level. Knowledge of high-speed digital design (up to GHz), electro-mechanical and thermal product design for harsh environments. Understanding of RF concepts for analogue signals up to 2GHz. Experience in designing both analogue and digital circuits, with exposure to FPGA or DSP control. Strong background in systems engineering principles for product development. Experience in product qualification, including EMC and environmental requirements. Ability to interpret customer specifications and address ambiguities.
