Description As a principal cost engineer, you are required to be commercially focused, confident in running your own project as well as working effectively within a team. Candidates with a track record of cost management at pre and post contract; working on contracts through the development cycle to the delivery through the construction phase would be preferred. You will provide analysis and accurate forecasting of all Project Costs relating to the Contract and in liaison with the other team members of the Commercial Team in its production. You will also support in the recruitment and development of the cost engineering team as new contracts are issued and increased support requirements are identified. LI-ES1 Responsibilities Lead and develop the cost engineering team under the direction of the lead Project Controls Manger and develop and maintain a good working relationship with Client and work colleagues. Control, monitor, analyse and report cost related aspects for designated projects within a Portfolio and liaise with the Commercial Team and the Project Controls Team to assist in the production of key project cost metrics. Ensure all cost and contract transactions on a project are understood and managed in an appropriate way. Continually monitor Project Risk and Change status to maintain current forecast. Liaise with Project team members and contractors with regards to progress and cost forecasting and provide ad hoc analysis on cost as and when required. Monitor, control and analyse the project cost information, identify variances, and bring these to the attention of the Project Manager with possible alternatives. Prepare specific reports to facilitate challenge and analysis to meet the project’s specific needs. Challenge cost variances against the baseline plan with individual task leaders/contractors and/or outside stakeholder management as necessary to enable mitigation. To cover your absence from site during holiday periods, you are to handover your duties to a delegate agreed with your manager. Qualifications Understand the inter-relationship between time cost and commercial aspects of the project life cycle. Experience across whole project and programme lifecycle. (e.g., Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning & handover processes). Experience of developing, implementing and maintaining a project cost procedure and extensive experience in drafting project cost reports A creative and innovative approach to problem solving extensive experience of collation information, preparing reports, processing supplier invoices, expense claims, knowledge of company procedures and policies Strong analytical skills Confidence and ability to assert influence Working knowledge of Primavera is preferred
