The Finance Manager – Controls is a pivotal role in the newly created Group Financial Accounting & Controls Team, which aims to be a trusted, respected, and integrated finance team.
You will be setting and embedding control standards and accounting policies, providing financial accounting guidance and oversight, and collaborating across finance to establish and operate a strong control environment that enables the clear stewardship of the Group’s assets needed to achieve our strategic priorities.
This is an exciting opportunity that will provide oversight across all of Finance and opportunities to gain knowledge and experience across multiple businesses and Finance functions.
What will I be doing?
1. Monitor and analyse legal entity level accounts to ensure compliance with accounting standards and the Group Finance Accounting manual.
2. Establish internal controls over financial reporting, including process mapping, risk identification, and effective control design.
3. Oversee the implementation of the financial control reporting framework and support business units in embedding controls.
4. Conduct periodic reviews of process documentation and business unit risk and control assessments and validate the design effectiveness of controls.
5. Continuously monitor, record, and report control effectiveness to key stakeholders, and drive remediation of control design and operational effectiveness.
6. Act as a liaison with risk, internal audit, and external audit teams to promote and monitor compliance, and provide guidance and training on EUC best practices across Finance.
What do I need?
1. ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant, with at least five years post qualification experience
2. Excellent and proven stakeholder engagement and great communication skills
3. Able to use insights to spot potential issues
4. Proactive approach to problem solving
5. Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
6. Experience with ERP systems e.g. SAP, Oracle
7. Experience with financial consolidation systems e.g. BPC, HFM
8. Strong technical accounting knowledge (incl. IFRS 15 & 16)
9. Financial risk, controls and compliance experience
