Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant/ Early Years Practitioner/ Children's Support Worker

Salary: £14-17 per hour
Hours: 09:00 – 14:00 Monday to Friday (25 hours per week) at a Day Centre in Camden
Responsibilities:
1. Provide high-quality integrated day care and early education to children from birth to 7 years within a multi-disciplinary team and in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
2. Contribute to planning and support delivery of a high-quality early years curriculum, including daily, weekly, and termly planning to meet individual children's needs and interests.
3. Promote children’s development within a secure, safe, and stimulating environment, referencing good practice curriculum guidance appropriate to the ages and stages of development.
4. Provide input to the assessment of children’s overall development, including carrying out observations and maintaining developmental records to a high standard.
5. Support colleagues in their responsibilities as key workers for specific groups of children and facilitate smooth transitions from home to centre and from centre to school.
6. Effectively manage the behaviour of children in line with procedural guidance and implement planned interventions for children with additional needs.
7. Provide appropriate physical care in areas such as washing, toileting, changing, feeding, and administering medication.
8. Work with due regard to Child Protection procedures and report matters of concern to the centre managers.
9. Assist with the organisation of outings for children’s interest, education, and enjoyment, ensuring safety.
10. Help children acquire and develop self-help skills, including toileting and personal hygiene.
11. Implement individual movement programmes under the direction of other professionals.
12. Assist with first aid provision and comfort sick or injured children, liaising with designated first-aiders and medical professionals as necessary.
13. Be prepared to carry out any basic medical procedures after receiving training.
14. Work to the shift pattern required by the setting, falling between 8am and 6pm.
15. Engage with children to ensure their time at the centre is enjoyable by playing games and promoting independence with a learning approach.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Hold a valid DBS (conducted in the last 12 months).
2. Must have an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care at minimum.
3. Have at least 1-2 years of UK experience working with young children with SEN.
4. Possess a good level of English (written & verbal) skills.
5. MUST be happy to provide personal care.
6. Understand the types of Learning Disabilities with great examples.
