Timeout is a family-run organisation, and our ethos and philosophies are based on a systemic approach to promoting the child’s emotional well-being. We work with local authorities across the UK to provide care and education for children within the care of the authority.
We take pride in providing therapeutic care and education to children aged between 5-18 years in our residential and education settings. Timeout values are central to everything we do; being consistent, compassionate, collaborative, respectful, and transparent helps us deliver high-quality levels of care and education.
We specialise in both solo and dual occupancy homes. Additionally, we provide therapeutic support to parents of our children within our education services. Our mission is to achieve the best possible outcomes for every child we care for and provide life-lasting positive change to their lives. This job opportunity will allow you to work across the homes and our schools to provide therapeutic interventions.
What you will be doing:
1. Provide specialist assessments of young children referred to the service, including but not limited to cognitive assessments, self-report measures, and direct/indirect structured observations.
2. Formulate and implement plans for evidence-based interventions, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework, employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy to improve the parent/child relationship.
3. Be responsible for implementing a range of psychotherapeutic interventions.
4. Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual and the family.
5. Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans.
6. Provide specialist mental health advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to the care of the young child and their parents/carers.
7. Contribute to and/or use evidence-based, integrated working tools and processes to ensure young children and their parents/carers receive holistic and coordinated services in response to their mental health needs.
8. Undertake risk assessment and risk management for young children and their parents/carers.
9. Communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation, and treatment plans of young children and their parents/carers who are under their care.
10. Monitor progress during the course of interventions, ensuring that all interventions are fully assessed, planned, implemented, and evaluated.
11. Maintain accurate and accessible health care records according to Service and HCPC policy and Information Governance requirements.
12. Demonstrate high-level communication skills, both written and verbal, within all agencies.
13. Receive regular clinical professional supervision from a senior psychologist and, where appropriate, other senior colleagues.
14. Gain additional experience and skills relevant to the profession and/or the service (as agreed with the responsible professional and team manager).
15. If required, provide advice, consultation, and training to staff working with the client group across a range of agencies and settings.
Timeout promotes child protection and the safeguarding of children through the services it provides to our children.
This job offers you the opportunity to be part of a child's life; please consider this carefully as our children deserve consistency and commitment from adults that have space in their lives for the next few years.
