Job Profile
As the successful Mechanical Quality Inspector, your primary functions will be to control product quality throughout the business, ensuring that the organisation meets its customers' expectations, working within an AS9100 quality environment.
Duties:
* Work with the Quality Manager and other inspectors in the quality department in promoting a right first-time approach to all tasks within the company.
* Advise on best measurement techniques and practices and promote a continuous improvement ethos within the business.
* Conduct 1st off, interim, patrol and final inspection activities.
* Complete First Article to AS9102, PPAP and inspections reports (ISIR).
* Use the SFDC (Shop Floor Data Collection) to clock on and off the jobs accurately and log scrap and conforming parts.
* Conduct inspection of externally supplied materials, goods, and parts.
* Ensure adherence to agreed plans and procedures.
* Ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
* Conduct reject analysis for internal and external rejects.
* Carry out root cause analysis and complete RCCA / NCR reports.
* Complete concession requests.
* Work within a team and provide cover for other team members when required.
* Help with contract review when required to meet customer requirements.
* Liaise with customers on quality-related matters when required.
* Attend customers/suppliers premises where required on quality matters.
* Undertake internal auditing when required (After Training).
* Be able to use and program all relevant CMM Measuring Equipment & Metrology Equipment.
* Conduct part marking when required.
* Work in a collaborative and non-confrontational way.
* Mentor and organise the inspection team workloads (After Training).
Skills & Attributes:
* Minimum of 3 years experience in a precision machining inspection department (Precision being Aerospace, F1, Defence types of work, not fabrication, sheet metal work or casting manufacture).
* Minimum of 3 years experience of using metrology equipment.
* Minimum of 3 years experience of CMM Programming and use, ideally Aberlink but if you have Mcosmos or PC DMIS programming, we will consider your application but only if you can program and operate.
* Good problem-solving skills.
* Willingness to learn (But must have very good core skills in a precision engineering inspection department).
* Proven ability to read and follow work instructions.
* Internal auditing experience or qualification (training will be given if required).

* Precision Engineering Inspection: 3 years (required)
* Using Metrology Equipment: 3 years (required)
* CMM Programming and Use: 3 years (required)
Hours of Work:
* Monday to Thursday 07:00- 16:00 and Friday 07:00 13:30
* Overtime available, paid at a rate of x1.333hrs
