Our Engineering Technician Apprenticeship is a 4-year program, which can lead onto one of the following 4 areas of technical expertise:
1. Manufacturing / Engineering Support Technician: This role provides technical support and expertise for all areas of the Manufacturing and Engineering functions.
2. Metrology Engineer: This role involves checking aircraft parts to ensure they are delivered correctly and to the highest standard.
3. Quality Engineer: This role provides experience in all aspects of aircraft design and manufacture.
4. Tooling Engineer: Tool Engineers use their skills to design, modify or repair tooling that will be used to produce aircraft parts.

Training
Training to be Provided
Year 1: The majority of your first year will be working offsite at college. Towards the end of the first year, you will undertake a return to site induction followed by onsite GKN training.
Years 2 & 3: You will undertake Business Familiarisation rotation placements. During your placements, you will document work that you complete and review this regularly with your GKN training advisor.
Year 4: You will complete your Apprenticeship and continue on-the-job training in your final department. This is where you will complete your Qualification as well as your End Point Assessment.
