Empower Students Through Communication A specialist SEN school in Uxbridge is seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to support students with communication and language needs, including those with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism (ASD), and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. The Role The successful candidate will:
* Assess and develop individualised communication plans for students with SEN.
* Use a range of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) tools, including Makaton, PECS, and high-tech communication devices.
* Deliver 1:1 and group therapy sessions to support speech, language, and social communication skills.
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff to integrate communication strategies into the curriculum.
* Train and support staff and parents to implement effective communication techniques.
* Monitor, assess, and adapt interventions to ensure ongoing progress in students’ communication development.
Candidate Requirements The ideal candidate will:
* Hold a degree in Speech and Language Therapy and be registered with the HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council).
* Have experience working with SEN students, particularly those with PMLD, ASD, or SEMH needs.
* Be confident in using AAC tools and assistive technology to support communication.
* Have excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Be compassionate, patient, and committed to enhancing the communication skills of SEN students.
