£12.00 per hour, 40 - 50 hours per week over 7 days
Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) are a leading supplier who work in correlation with many Local Authorities to help assist with the infamous issue of Fly-Tipping, Duty of Care, Littering & Dog Fouling issues within the boroughs. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology, together with vast experience within the industry and a clear, coherent understanding of PACE & all relevant legislation, WISE are a favourable supplier.
Main Purpose of the Role
As an Environmental Support & Enforcement Officer, you will be required to patrol the City in an intelligence-led manner, by engaging and educating members of the community and, when necessary, enforcing the legislation in which you will be authorised to act on – this would be done by issuing an on-the-spot Fixed Penalty Notice.
Within your role, you will be:
1. Patrolling the City in accordance with an agreed deployment strategy, which would be set & explained by your Team Manager.
2. Investigating complaints raised by the community of Colchester City Council and ensuring you report back your findings to your Team Manager.
3. Engaging and educating members of the public regarding Environmental Crime, emphasizing the importance for all to play their part in keeping the City clean.
4. Interacting directly with offenders and issuing a Fixed Penalty Notice for all offences in which you are authorised to do so.
5. Ensuring you are well versed on the legislation you are enforcing; this would be taught to you within our bespoke Enviro Crime Induction Course.
6. Completing a thorough notebook entry together with a witness statement for every issuance.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
1. The ability to communicate with all members of the public, at times in demanding circumstances – it is important for the candidate to remain resilient.
2. The ability to use their own initiative when carrying out their role and work within a team environment.
3. Full UK Driver’s License & access to their own vehicle.
4. Understanding that this role is based outdoors, regularly on foot in all weather conditions.
5. Clear and concise writing skills.
6. Will be physically fit as you may be required to carry out foot patrol for prolonged periods.
7. Capable of successfully completing their Enviro Crime Induction Course and being signed off as being competent for independent patrol by their assigned Training Officer.
This is a full-time contract, whereby you will be required to work based on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern between Monday-Sunday between the hours of 7am-5pm. The successful candidate will be paid £12.00 per hour, with access to 28 days’ annual leave (including bank holidays).
It is imperative you have a full UK Driver’s License and access to your own vehicle.
