KS2 SEMH/SEND Teaching Assistant Haringey Position: Year 3 SEMH/SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Haringey, London Contract Type: Contract, Full-time Start Date: As soon as possible Role Overview: As a KS2 SEMH/SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing tailored support to a student with autism, helping them engage with their learning and develop their social and emotional skills. You will work closely with the class teacher and other staff to ensure that the student feels supported and included within the classroom environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to a student with autism, fostering their independence and learning. Assist in implementing the students Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) and monitor their progress. Support the class teacher in creating a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere. Encourage the students social interactions and emotional development through targeted strategies. Collaborate with other staff members to adapt lessons and resources to meet the students needs. Communicate effectively with parents and contribute to regular updates on the students progress. Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills in supporting students with autism. Qualifications and Skills: Previous experience working with children with autism or special educational needs is essential. A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent is desirable. Strong understanding of autism and effective strategies for support. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for making a difference in childrens lives.
